About

Canadian tools for Canadian work.

Anitarian builds sovereign AI for organizations that can't compromise on jurisdiction, compliance, or execution speed.

Our mission

Make Canada the smartest nation. Anitarian is operated by a British Columbia–registered company in Kelowna, with no US corporate ownership, no US investors, and no foreign legal obligations in the data path.

Why we exist

Capability and data sovereignty can coexist. Canadian organizations should not be forced to send sensitive work outside the country to use modern AI. We're building the platform that closes that gap.

Founding team

Operators across customers, capital, AI, and infrastructure.

Anitarian is being built by a compact Canadian team with the commercial, technical, and physical-infrastructure experience required to deliver sovereign AI at production scale.

Scott Smith

CEO

Scott Smith

Simplifier of business technology, co-founder of RiskTools.ai, and long-time operator with 12 years of Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue experience. Scott brings customer relationships, regulated-industry judgment, go-to-market execution, and the practical discipline needed before organizations trust a sovereign AI platform.

Matt Smith

Chairman

Matt Smith

Investor, board member, and founder of Thinkific and Later, with current experience connected to Durable and a UBC background. Matt brings founder pattern recognition, fundraising leverage, product judgment, and Canadian SaaS credibility to Anitarian's board and capital strategy.

Jonathan Fitzpatrick

CTO, Infrastructure

Jonathan "Fitz" Fitzpatrick

Director of Digital Products at Stantec.io and infrastructure technology leader with roots in engineering, digital twins, flood prediction, and asset analytics. Fitz brings UBC-trained technical depth, Hawkeye Holdings operating experience, and the practical facility leadership behind Anitarian's Kelowna sovereign compute footprint.

Jordan Eunson

CTO, AI

Jordan Eunson

Vancouver-based systems and AI operator who describes his work plainly: "I make break fix stuff." Jordan has been an IT Specialist with Copious Communications since 2009 and brings the pragmatic engineering depth behind Anitarian's model evaluation, inference, adaptation, and customer-facing AI systems.

Values

What we hold ourselves to.

Canadian excellence over convenient compromise

If "good enough" requires sending data south, we don't ship it.

Speed and execution in slow markets

Regulated buyers move carefully. We move quickly so they don't have to wait.

Tools operating within Canadian jurisdiction

Architecture decisions are made first; marketing language is made second.

Continuous improvement through shipping

We earn trust by what's deployed in production, not by what's in the pitch.

"This isn't about nationalism. It's about not having to explain to your lawyers why your AI vendor has a US parent company."
Why data sovereignty matters

Three concerns. One architecture.

Legal jurisdiction

The US CLOUD Act reaches data held by US companies regardless of where the server sits. Canadian infrastructure under Canadian law eliminates that risk.

Regulatory compliance

Quebec's Law 25 mandates Privacy Impact Assessments for AI handling personal data, with extra scrutiny for cross-border transfers. A Canadian-only architecture simplifies the work.

Defence & government

CPCSC-bound contractors require jurisdictional control over AI tooling. US-hosted solutions create review obstacles. We don't.

Infrastructure

Where Anitarian runs.

Hosted exclusively in Canada

No US cloud regions, no US corporate parent, no CLOUD Act vulnerability.

Encrypted end-to-end

AES-256 encryption at rest. TLS 1.3 in transit. Stateless inference by default.

Never trained on your data

This is an architectural boundary, not a policy bullet.
